This woman wore pants to church to make a statement:
She is one of the thousands of Mormon women who participated in the “Wear Pants to Church” event on Sunday, December 16, all of whom are a part of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
According to HuffPost Women, there is no official policy preventing these women from wearing pants to church however it’s like an unspoken rule or code. Think of it in these terms: you know you’re not supposed to date your best friend’s girl or man. There is no one to persecute people if they choose to do so, yet most refrain anyway.
I’m not a feminist by any means, but I do think that all women should own and be able to wear pants/jeans. For heaven’s sake, it makes traveling SO much easier! Imagine walking down the aisle to get the Eucharist at a quicker pace! All jokes aside, I do understand that cultures and traditions are different. Mormon women should have the choice to uphold traditional fashions, wear pants to church or possibly alternate between the two and feel comfortable doing so!
Sometimes we forget to count our blessings (and yes, the freedom to wear what we want is one of them).
Cheers to not taking pants for granted!
